Careers at Statsnet

Statsnet is a due-diligence and open company data service covering Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. We are building the largest open database of companies: we collect official registries and turn them into clear company profiles, an API and tools for compliance, marketing and journalism. The team is small, so every engineer directly shapes a product used by hundreds of thousands of people every month.

How we work

  • Fully remote with flexible hours. Most of the team works in GMT+5–GMT+6 time zones.
  • Short release cycle: changes ship to production daily, with no bureaucracy.
  • Few meetings, mostly async: contracts and tasks are written down.
  • A modern stack and freedom to choose your tools — including heavy use of AI agents in development.

Open positions

Data Engineer

We are looking for a data engineer to grow our registry data pipelines: from official sources to search indexes and company profiles.

What you will do

  • Design and maintain ETL pipelines ingesting government registries and open sources.
  • Normalize and deduplicate data about companies, officers and the links between them.
  • Own data quality and completeness: freshness metrics, alerts, reconciliation against sources.
  • Optimize storage and search: PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, large batch loads.
  • Help design new data products: risk scoring, enrichment, bulk exports.

What we expect

  • Strong Python and SQL; experience with large tabular datasets.
  • 2+ years building and operating ETL/ELT pipelines in production.
  • Solid understanding of PostgreSQL and search engines (Elasticsearch/OpenSearch).
  • Ability to untangle messy registry data and bring it to production quality.
  • Nice to have: Go, parsing/scraping experience, familiarity with Kazakhstani registries (BIN, OKED, KATO).

Software Engineer

We are looking for a product-minded software engineer for our backend API, web application and integrations (API keys, MCP server, data exports).

What you will do

  • Build and maintain the public REST API and internal services in Go.
  • Develop the Next.js/TypeScript web application: company profiles, search, plans and the account area.
  • Take new features from contract to production: billing, quotas, AI assistant integrations.
  • Care about performance and reliability: caching, monitoring (Sentry), SEO-critical SSR.

What we expect

  • 3+ years of professional development experience; strong Go or TypeScript (ideally both).
  • Experience with React/Next.js or willingness to pick them up fast.
  • Understanding of relational databases, HTTP APIs, caching and queues.
  • A habit of writing maintainable code and shipping features end to end on your own.
  • Nice to have: payment systems (Paddle/Stripe), Elasticsearch, Kubernetes/GCP.

What we offer

  • Competitive USD salary tied to your level, not your location.
  • Fully remote work and a flexible schedule.
  • Real impact on the product: no legacy swamps or long approval chains.
  • Paid courses, conferences and work tools (including AI assistants).

How to apply

Send your CV or a profile link (GitHub/LinkedIn) to mail@statsnet.co with the subject "Vacancy: Data Engineer" or "Vacancy: Software Engineer". A cover letter is optional — a couple of sentences about what interests you in Statsnet is enough. We reply to everyone within a week.

Can I work remotely from another country?

Yes. The team is distributed; we can engage you as a contractor directly or via international contractor platforms. The main requirement is at least half a day of overlap with GMT+5 working hours.

What does the hiring process look like?

Three steps: a short intro call (30 minutes), a technical interview with an engineer (60–90 minutes, no leetcode — we discuss real product problems) and a final conversation with the founder. The whole process usually takes one to two weeks.

There is no suitable opening but I want to join — what should I do?

Write to us anyway at mail@statsnet.co. We are growing, and for strong candidates — analysts, product managers, sales specialists — we find a place beyond the published openings.
